In reply to your inquiry about window coverings with "holes" in them---we love ours from Window Accents---they are almost like Screens that you can use as blinds---they cut the intense sunlight out---but still show our lovely views. Window Accents is very familiar with Brickyard as they have supplied many window covering throughout the years 836 West Francisco Blvd. San Rafael, CA 94901 You might want to call ahead and make sure that they still carry them---we always work with John---he can be a bit cranky--but he REALLY is an expert at what he does. I can recommend - Juan Guzman cell 510 506 0836, home 510 351 3206. A couple of years ago Juan installed window tinting on our solarium windows, He did a very professional job. The tinting caused the mid-day temperature in our solarium to come down about 15 degrees- it was very successful. (July, 2009)
Juan Guzman for window tinting. Efficient, inexpensive and detail oriented. Provides warranties for product and work performed. Works independently as well as subcontracting for another business. He has access to all types and products, including Vista which was the latest written recommended product per HOA (510) 506-0836-cell and (510) 351-3206-home. (July, 2005)
Nanik Optix - Expensive, but I've found them really nice, they keep the place cool, while keeping the view. Basically sunglasses for the windows. nanikblinds.com (April, 2004)
We purchased our window shades from Berkeley Shade. They have a wealth of experience at BYL including working with the slanted windows in the solarium. Price is very competitive and is a little more straightforward that dealing with Home Depot for example because it's a smaller company. Staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Installer was a little overworked and brought his son with him.....Hope this helps. (April, 2004)
I bought mine at Home Depot. They have worked great for several years. I installed them myself. They were inexpensive. Highly recommended for the do-it-yourselfer who wants value for the dollar. (April, 2004)
Window Accents at 836 Francisco Rd in San Rafael (415-459-7838) has done a lot of windows at the landing over the years. We were quite happy with the work they did for us. There are a number of different ways of dealing with the solarium windows. (April, 2004)
When I lived in Seattle I worked for a company that was a sublet company for Costco. They are here in the Bay Area too. All you have to do is call their 800# (1-800-25DECOR ?) I think that was the #.... Costco would be able to confirm that. They send a decorator out. She helps you pick colors & style, then they send someone out to measure & then someone to install. Price was extremely reasonable...I would suggest Hunter Douglas shades...they may be a little more $but well worth it in the long run. I've seen the kiosk in the Costco in Richmond one off Central. I'm not certain who the decorator is that has this area but everyone in the Seattle area was great. (April, 2004)
