Kyler and Tallon have taken up cat sitting. They have two satisfied clients so far. (One who is a vet) They take turns and always have a parent with them so you get the benefit of adult supervision of your cat. Kyler particularly likes to play with the cats for a while while visiting. That leads to happier cats when their masters come home! A member of my church, the Unitarian-Universalists, Mary Pugh, sits with cats or dogs. Twice she has taken care of my cat while I was out of town, sleeping overnight and feeding her twice a day. Mary is a small, soft-spoken dignified elder with all her faculties. She charges $10 for each visit to your home, so it was $20 a day for her recent service for my cat. I have her phone number as 233 4461. (November, 2009)

For doggy daycare, I would recommend EveryDog Has It's Daycare in Emeryville.They provide a very safe environment for well socialized dogs. They offer monthly memberships and overnight stays. They also have a visiting Veterinarian. They are located on 63rd street, just off of Hollis. See their web site for more information. http://www.everydog.com/ (June, 2009)

Jim and I regularly take Amber, our 18 month old cockapoo, to doggy daycare at Metro Dog in El Cerrito. It's just off of Central, near the freeway. Quite convenient. Amber also goes with dog walker, Valerie Chafograck, valerie@uspetsandfun.com or 510-717-8799. Valerie favors adventurous outings with lots of exercise for the dogs. She takes small packs running in the hills or playing in the surf. We find we've got to clean Amber up, more often than maybe we would otherwise, but Amber loves it. And it's a great way to be sure Amber is well socialized with other dogs. (March, 2009)

For cats, about six years ago we used Feline Bed and Breakfast in El Cerrito; we were pleased but they were not inexpensive. (March, 2009)
