Carpet Cleaner Recommendations
Could you please post on Share the Wealth the following information about a gentleman we hired to clean our carpets today. He is a local Richmond resident, owns his own business and is licensed & insured. He was very prompt and professional. He also does carpet repair and dyeing.

Just wanting to update a prior high, high recommendation for Stanley Steemer; they are still absolutely great. I’ve been using them for years, and every crew they’ve sent has been professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The whole company is definitely customer-service oriented, and I like that and the final result: really clean carpets, with no cleaning product odor (they only use warm water and pressure).Plan to allow 2 days for the carpet to completely dry, preferably when the weather permits open windows to aid drying. Unless you like to or have to have your carpets cleaned often, avoid the reduced price deal of buy-three-cleanings-within -a -year.

Stanley Steemer in Concord (nearest to us) is 925/288-0830. I am so impressed with their service and their staff—I’ve been using them for several years and they never fail to impress me. Courteous, helpful, fast, pretty on time (for service people), and I like the results. My carpets feel really clean and they can get out bad stains. And their cleaning solution doesn’t smell (I have scent allergies) and is biodegradable. (April, 2007)

I really like the Stanley Steemer company for carpet cleaning. Their crews are very polite and knowledgeable; they are used to working at BYL so know how to work with our setup; and their cleaning process is non-toxic and very thorough. You can book them to arrive in a 2-hour window, which they try to keep, so you aren’t waiting all day for them to show up; and they are very fast. They move your furniture and put it back, if you wish. I’ve used them for several years and am very satisfied. (April, 2007)

We were planning to have a carpet cleaning this morning with Carpet Marshall. They confirmed yesterday that they were coming. Two hours before their scheduled arrival they called to tell us that a part of their system was broken, they didn't have a spare part and we had to reschedule. No sorry, no offer of a discount...We spent the last 2 days moving around furniture to clear out the carpet area and now we will have to live in such a mess for awhile. We want to make sure that people here are aware of this unprofessional service as to avoid such a bad experience. (July, 2006)

I've used Dean at Chem-dry (510) 236-1669 for many years. He does a GREAT job of getting out even difficult stains. And, since it is a dry process, the carpet is not wet for hours and he does not need to run a water hook-up. It also means that he is not dumping chemicals down the drain or into our landscaping! Just DO NOT use Macy's. The spots they left are much worse than the ones we had before they arrived. (September, 2003) I've used Coit without bad results. Dear Ida - I had my carpets cleaned by "Organic Choice Carpet Cleaning". I have a dog who sometimes wets in the middle of the night while I am sleeping. My rugs are berber and are off white. Call "Rug Works" out of san Rafael for excellent carpet cleaning They bring a portable machine in and use only organic safe products. No oil based or steam cleaners that look great wet but leave a film residue. It is family owned and the service is excellent. (August, 2005)
